Default Mileage out of brakes?

How many miles should I expect from pads/rotors? It seems like my wife burns through brakes. She owns a 2008 LR3.

Thanks

My 2005 LR3 is at 76,000 miles. I've had to change my brake pads every 30,000 miles so far. I changed the rotors at 60,000 miles, though I probably could have gotten more miles out of them as they didn't look too bad. Some people advise changing the rotors every time you change pads; apparently the rotors are thin to begin with and can warp easily when hot.

If you live in a hilly area, you will burn through pads pretty quickly, unless you teach her to use manual downshifting, or just SLOW DOWN! If she is like my wife, she thinks she is on a racetrack just going to the store. I am the primary driver of my LR3, and while I push it pretty hard, I have experience with brakes similar to Hellpie, and I'm about to turn 116k miles.
