Misfire, power loss, CEL... all of it...
A year ago I bought my wife this 2006 LR3 HSE w/ 95K. Approx. a month ago the rough idle started and a vary bad smell when the vehicle pulls up in the driveway. I have changed the plugs, ran cleaner through the gas tank, cleaned the MAF & Throttle body. Since changing the plugs, it has gotten worse and the CEL even flashes on occasion. (yes I did go back twice and check all the plugs are connected etc.
I see similar issues all over the Land Rover Forum's, but nobody ever comments on if they go it fixed or what finally did.
I got a feeling it is something obvious I am missing, because this vehicle is just way too nice to suddenly be running like a rusted out 65 ford truck Barn Find...
Thanks

Think I know where this is leading, d2 on the codes
If its what I think I would not drive much till its fixed, emphisis on get codes read
Hopefully this evening I can get codes. The smell is like rotten eggs (probably from CAT.) and it is eating a little coolent. I'm adding a few cups to top off the radiator fluid ever 2 months and cant find a leak.
Thanks

If there are several cylinder misfire faults stored when you have them read, write down the P codes, and have them cleared. Start it up, drive it(or idle) until the light comes back on, and read them again.
Most common single cylinder misfire issues on this motor is due to failed coils, but erroneous misfire faults can easily store with one dead cylinder.
If the engine has ran hot, I would suggest changing all 8 coils. I have seen too many times following an overheat, where coils will go out, one after another over a short period of time.
Also, driving the vehicle while misfiring is not suggested, as you end up dumping fuel into the cats(not from the misfiring cylinder, it's injector is disabled, but the rest of the cylinders on that bank will overfuel)
