I am thinking about buying one and from what I hear, 07 and later LR3's changed for better and that I should buy an 07 and later model. A mechanic tells me that the earlier ones have electrical issues.

Also, did the engine change for 07?

I believe the late 06 models had the revised (read: more reliable) electronics. Other wise, engines where the same. The V6 might have been cut in 08 or 09.

As for suggestions, I'd look for a used, 07 SE, with less than 30k on it. With the 4.4 V8.

I paid 28k for mine with 31k on it, no nav, or heavy duty package, but I love it. A nav isn't worth 6k on the used market, hell mine still has the new car smell.

 

what was the HD package? Luckly, the nav doesnt cost 6k used....

hd package is the electronic locking diff. comes with a full size spare as well. 07 is better then 06. they added some nice little things that the 05 didn't have.

One I know for sure: the MY05 didn't have the frontal parking sensors that the 2006 onwards have (HSE I believe)

I think from 07 up the SE V8 got the front sensors....mine has them...
