Default My 2005 lR3 SE Won't turn off...

So... The wife get's home and calls me out to the driveway. She takes the key out of the ignition opens the door and the dash reads "Key In Ignition".... Um no it's not. The radio and windows are still working all while the key is no longer in the ignition.

I disconnect the battery and connect it again and the darn thing is still "on".

Any help on would be greatly appreciated..

Just for the record, I may need to have any replies explained to me like I'm a 5 year old, I am not very good with cars past an oil change.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried keeping the battery disconnected for 20 minutes or so? Maybe, that would reset the computers. Not sure.

have you tried putting the key back in and turning on and off and then taking it back out? Maybe something is getting hung up inside the cylinder.

So I ended up having to replace the battery since I broke off one of the terminals trying to remove the connection. Replacing the battery seems to have gotten rid of the issue (I had the guys at auto zone to test the battery and it was time to replace it anyway).

The odd thing now is my engine light is on? I'm changing my oil and air filter this weekend, we'll see if that changes anything...

by the way, thanks for the responses guys. I tried both of your recommendations. Not sure if having the battery disconnected or replacing it got rid of the issue but we seem to be good now. (other than the engine light, and having to re set my radio stations :-))

You need a reprogram for the transfer case. I seem to recall that issue in fact it may have been a recall.

I have a 2006 Range Rover Supercharged with this same problem. Put new battery in and new BCM. Still having same issue. Any suggestions?
