I’m running a 2005 North American spec LR3 4.4 V8 and looking to fit a second battery in the box provided under the bonnet but the space is currently taken up by an electronic enclosure pictured below. A translation of the label in French seems to suggest it is part of the Suplemental Restraint System. Anyone know what it is and if it needs to be mounted flat?

What it appears to say is the car is fitted with additional airbags. Whether or not this was a very early placement of the SRS ecu (being a 2005) or an extra item, not sure.

 

Thanks Dave. Sounds feasible. If it were an early SRS ecu, would it object to being installed in a different orientation do you think?

 

Can't tell without seeing how it is orientated. Does it have a plug that looks fairly simple to undo?

Try posting a picture of how it is located in the box.
