Sounds like that would be the case.

I can vouch for Abran doing it right he is a great source for the keys.

Another vote for Abran. His keys are top notch and program easily with the Gap tool.

I have a 2nd key with a dead battery....maybe I should attempt to change it.

Has anyone used the "tape to good one" trick successfully or is that an urban legend?

Why tape to the good one?

Use the dead one to start and drive the vehicle. If it’s chargeable, it will charge. But in my experience if it’s dead, time for a new one.

Yeah mostly concerned about the LR3 reacting funny to a dead FOB.

The immobilizer chip doesn't need current. We see bags full of people running around with single remotes with dead batteries.

So you're saying that on my next long trip, I should give it a shot? Use the dead one and see if it charges....?

precisely, but I’m not optimistic it will charge.

I can sell you a battery and case if you want to give it a try.
