New LR3 Owner
Hey guys. Just bought an original owner low miliage 2006 LR3 SE for my wife. We have always loved land rover looks and styling but never bought one due to the unreliability reputation, Which I now believe came from the discover 2 days. We had a 2012 VW Passat TDi that was just bought back by vw for emissions cheats. My wife wanted a green LR3 with nav and bluetooth. Green was a hard color to find in our price range until I found this one, but no navigation with the Harmon Kardon system it has in the SE
First question, would really like to uprade the radio to a newer looking android based nav unit from Kenwood or Pioneer with a 7" touch screen. The install kits look cheesy that are made for this from Metra or Crutchfield and would also seem that the unit would be to low on the dash to see nav when driving. . My thoughts are to installed a new nav unit receiver in the cubby hole where the factory nav would be and leave the stock radio due to the MOST fiber going to the amp under the seat. Is there anyone that has installed a new aftermarket touchscreen in the cubby hole and possible just wired sound out to the aux input to avoid a full system upgrade. i could also order the pac adapter to splice into the steering wheel controls for the new unit instead of the old. She just wants a good nav system, with good bluetooth and a back up camera.
Will this work, and if now, how can I do this.
