Default New Transfer Case, and....

Okay so, got the new (to me) T-Case put in. It came out of a 2010 RRS and has 95k on the clock. Re-calibrated the TCCM since we re-used my old actuator (wrecking yard mangled the electrical harness) and after that, works flawlessly.

Now, here is one thing I'm noticing. Prior to this, when manual shifting, almost every time I shifted from 2 to 1, the transmission would not respond. It would just stay in 2 and it would annoy me. Following this, it shifts to 1 every time.

I don't know if this is due to the new T-Case or if it has more to do with the re-calibration of the clutches and the position sensors through the GAP. Any thoughts? Also, and more importantly, would there be any harm in running these calibration procedures on my '05? When I manual shift that one, going from 2-1 often results in the transmission "spitting out" first gear and kicking it back to second. It usually only sticks if my RPMs are a little higher.

What do you guys think? Any harm in re-calibrating the TCCM on my '05?

Thanks, Houm

Glad you’ve got it running again!

No harm in running the calibration procedures on your other LR3. In fact, it’s something you want to do each time your change transfer case fluid and not a bad first fix if you are experiencing problems with the transfer case.

What are you doing with the “old” transfer case? I always thought it would be fun to rebuild one.

I didn't keep the old one. I also didn't realize that the TCCM routine is something that should be done even with a fluid change....but that sounds familiar and may be stated in the GAP manual. I don't know that I necessarily have problems with my T-Case in the '05, I just know the shifting behavior is not as it should be. I'm going to try it!

I'll report back. Thanks.
