Default OBDII scanner

anyone tried an autel MS300 OBDII code reader on an LR3? I'm not having any luck and all I can get is a Link Error message. I know it's a cheap one but figured i'd see if anyone has a workaround. Thank you

I think unless it supports canbus you're out of luck.

thanks for the quick reply. I figured it wouldn't work but wanted to check. Any idea of a decent one that does work? Not looking to do anything fancy, just look at basic error codes if and when something goes wrong.

I don't have any specific examples, but as your shopping, make sure you are looking at ones that supports CAN networks.

Also keep in mind that OBDII only covers Engine and Transmission and data display is limited to the mandated parameters, so diagnostics are limited and any other subsystem such as Air Suspension is out of the question.

That's a good point. Ideally, I'd like a tool that would allow for some basic resets if necessary (out in the woods on a camping trip, being able to clear an erroneous suspension fault, etc.) I know nothing about this, does anyone know if such a tool exists that doesn't cost thousands and thousands of dollars, and if so, a good brand? Thanks

Trying to appear impartial here, do a search for (in no particular order) - Faultmate or IID and decide which meets your cost/benefit curve.

Will do, thanks. Feel free to be partial if you have experience or knowledge with any of these. I have neither.
