Ideal towing is have what's behind you at the same or less weight than the towing vehicle. Balanced weight in the trailer makes stability great.

Thanks Globetrotter448. Good point on weight balance. I'm heading to the scales soon and will report back. Will be interesting to see what the D3/LR3 weighs on its own given the Frontrunner rack, iKamper, winch, rock guards, oversized tires, etc. Curb weight new was 5,796 lbs / 2,629 kg. Guessing a fair bit heavier now. First few pulls on this new trailer were empty and tongue weight was too low. Looking forward to towing fully loaded and comparing the difference. I pulled a 3,500 lb classic pickup on a 2,000 pound trailer 1,600 miles a while back and it pulled great.
