Default Parking brake and transmission code

I just replaced my parking brake module on my Lr3. The parking brake is still not working, the cable moves in and then moves back out. What is worse though, now I am getting a transmission fault and it is not allowing me to start my car, it wont even try to crank. Any ideas on what to check? The fault says limited gears and has flashing hazard lights. I never had any issues with the transmission so I must have done something wrong with the installation or the part that I got is not compatible. I checked the 5amp fuse for the transmission ECU and it is still in tact. One thing I noticed is that I can put hte car into park and in gear without even pressing the brake pedal now. That seems strange. I am wondering if I bumped a harness somewhere when I was pulling out the old brake lines. Any ideas on where to look? Thanks for your help.

Could you have the wrong parking module? The LR3 and LR4 parts are not compatible because of the different CAN buses. In this thread the suspected issue was maybe it was a module for an LR4 and is thus messing with the CAN bus and causing all the issues. And FYI, there is not a module out there that would work on both an LR3 and LR4 so if it was sold as such, then I bet it is the issue. If you disconnect it and hook up the old one I wonder if it will start. I am not sure if it will start with it simply disconnected though, some modules are critical for starting.

Yea I agree I think it will start with the old module. I did get it on Amazon, maybe I will return it and get one from rock auto or a more reputablenplace. It does just advertise to work on the LR3 and Range Rover sport, did not mention LR4. I’ll put the old one back on and report tonight.

Default Working again.

Putting the old brake actuator back on allowed the car to start again. So I am returning the part and going to get another one. Any suggestions on quality parts online? I see one at rock auto for 470, and then parts geek has several at different prices.

I have not had to replace one yet, so beyond OEM not sure what to recommend. You may want a trusted source like Atlantic British, but I am not sure if they sell aftermarket.

Default Used actuator

I found a used actuator on eBay for 180 but it has the Land Rover tag so I know it’s OEM. The actuator worked with my computer although I still need to adjust it properly, I am getting a screeching noise when applying the break. Will hopefully look at it closer this week.

They will all screech until you do the adjustment procedure, and since the module is on the canbus you may still get error codes for it.

so I am trying to adjust the parking brake. I tried latching it with the iscan tool but not getting anywhere. I tried going through the profedire by hitting the brake three times and parking brake 4 times but it didn’t seem to work. Any tips on getting the adjustment procedure to work? Or is there a good write up I can follow.
