I was actually kind of scared when I bought it because pretty much all I could find were the YouTube video and the site that sells it. Anyway I took the plunge and ordered it. From what I have read it looks like the magic comes from these 2 devices: NetPlay i70 (I think this is the brains of the setup) and Land Rover GVIF PAS TDIE (I think this is what allows NetPlay to show up on the old touchscreen).
I bought the whole package with the 3 add-ons (wireless, SWC (integrates with steering wheel controls), and camera). After reading through the instructions I received I decided to try and install it myself. I have zero experience installing car stereos but I do have experience replacing computer parts. Anyway 75% of it is moving plugs and ribbon cables around with the other 25% tapping into wires (like you have to figure out how to tap into the power of the cigar lighter, and you have to tap into the reverse wire for the camera). I think NaviPlus tweaks some of the connectors to make installation easier and they have also assembled various additional cables you need to install into an LR3. Here is an example of tapping into 2 wires (the 2 red things are called Posi-tap connectors)
The wireless works great (if you look at the NetPlay i70 manual you can see the 2 giant antennas for it)
I too was imagining Minecraft CarPlay but it looks fine. I have a 2008 HSE and have no idea if the screens changed resolution throughout the years. I have not attempted to watch any videos yet but when the map rotates in the maps app it looks fine.
So I bought the reverse camera but I haven't looked for the reverse wire or figured out where to hook it up in the rear of the vehicle. Unfortunately I had to reassemble the console enough to drive it so the real installation of the reverse camera will be some other weekend.
My navigation unit died, but the screen still works with an error message. Do you think I could still install this, or would it require fixing the nav unit first?

[Disclaimer: I have no idea...] BUT I don't know why you would need to fix your navigation unit because the system completely bypasses it. It really just uses the touchscreen.
Which unit did you buy and was it to replace the stock head unit? Photos of the end of the install?

I agree, but knowing how interconnected everything is I wouldn't bet on logic. Radio and the nav unit being connected is one. Tried to remove the screen as I didn't need it and wanted to replace it with the cubby, but it required me to get a pin jumper (I think that's what their called?) and I just gave up. Lazy me is a pain but a reality.
It looks great and I plan to follow in your purchase once I get that far in my build but I did want to give everyone a word of caution; tapping into the cigarette / cigar lighter isn’t a good idea, it’s always hot. Unless it has a signal line that you could tap into like from the head unit to tell it when to power off and on… I would be Leary because you may end up with a flat battery.

Unless someone has modded your sockets they go off once the vehicle goes into sleep mode, i have my CB radio piggy backed off a socket and never has it stayed on or flattened the battery.

Huh, that may be a rover thing. BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Dodge and Subaru all stay hot when the car is off.
