Exclamation Transmission fault code

Hi there,
Perhaps someone can help with my situation. Recently my 06 LR3 gave me a "Transmission Fault, Limited gears available".
Shortly after, my stereo went off and the nav screen started flickering on and off. After looking around in the forums, I checked the Integrated Transfer Case module and everything checked out. So did both fuse boxes (the one under the lower glove box was so much fun to put back in).
I saw no sign of corrosion anywhere and I still have the fault code popping up. What strange is that the gauge cluster dies if I rev the engine and comes back on when it's idling.
Would anyone have had a similar experience? what was the solution?

Thanks

John

With so many random faults, I would check your battery and/or alternator for proper voltage. The brake switch can also create strange random faults and is both inexpensive and easy to replace.

Dear Discovery 254,

I would also check first the battery and if it's a new one, the battery voltage, they are very sensitive about the voltage. The brake switch is easy to change and cheap, why not...
After that, for me it was the instrument cluster, the plug behind it.
As for me it would the third thing I would check. Mine was a little loose and when you move it you will have the fault coming and disappearing.

If suddenly you are interested I have also the Blackbox falutmate to sell.
It can really help too. Let me know.

Me I have sold my Land Rover, too many problem with it, I think I had a really wrong one... I hope it is not the case for you.

I hope this can help you.

Have a nice day !!!

Thanks for the response guys.

I have replaced the brake switch withing the last 4 months and the alternator in the last 3 months. I'm getting about 13.5 v when the engine is running with electrical accessories on. How can I test the brake switch to see if it's the one causing all the problems?

Dear Discovery 254,

The brake switch takes a long time before to spoil, not four month...
If I was you I would go behind my instrument cluster and check the plug....

It is not too hard, more or less 30minutes maximum.

Please let us know... I'm curious about it.

In fact the instrument cluster plug is a well known problem on the Land Rover, Range Rover....

Sorry again but cheer up !!!

I have not had a chance to work on the LR3 for a while.
I tried cranking it today and it was a bit sluggish. Checked the battery voltage and found it to be 11.5 volts. What I found rather interesting was the output with the engine running was a whopping 18 volts. I curious to know if this is because of the low battery voltage. Either way, I'm charging the battery up again( it's been checked and found to be in good health) and seeing if I'll get the same output with the engine running. A new alternator is in the works as well since the one I have is still under warranty.
I'll keep you posted.

PS. I checked the instrument cluster connection and no changes were observed.
