Default Putting some BIG WHEELS on the LR3

Hey guys!

First time poster to the forum, so a little back story.

I bought a Discovery II a year ago... basket case from hell, BUT, it taught me how to work on a truck and has gotten me into being much more mechanically inclined. After doing what I was capable of with the Disco, I sold it and thanks to the awesome guys at RMR 4x4 LLC - Birmingham, Alabama, I drove away with an LR3! with 67k miles, I got her up to maintenance schedule, put a baja rack and lift rods, now im looking for some solid, big, off-road tires!

Im going with 18in rims, and was looking at:

Nitto Terra Grappler All Terrain. The size is LT 325/65 R18
TOYO OPEN COUNTRY M/T. Size is 35x12.50R18LT

Im really new to sizing tires and would love some help!

Thanks!
Eric

You need to go smaller then those choices. Check out the Lucky8 LR3 thread for ideas on what will fit. IIRC a 33" is about the best you can do and it still rubs a bit.

I do have the Proud Rhino Rods on the LR3, same as the Johnson Rods. Would that help at all? Or was your comment assuming I already had those lol

I was going on the assumption you had a lift. The proud rhino rods are a excellent choice having seen them side by side with the others the quality of the rhino's is obvious.

35's are going to be way out of the realm of possible, with out some work with a plasma cutter.

...even 33s require a set of spacers. 32s are what's possible with rods only.

Thanks! My Rover seems to sit a tad bit lower in the front then the back, is this normal? I just got the new AMK Compressor a few months back, so I dont think there are any leaks

Default I will refer you to my posts in another thread

Check out this thread that involves a bit of tire talk:

https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr...s-63809/page3/

I run 33s. They are certainly the maximum. You can't even lift the air bags high enough for 35s so unless you plan to do a coil over conversion kit, suspension lift, body lift, and re-gear your transmission; then your dream of 35s will only be a dream. Oh, and you will also need a minimum of a 1.75 inch wheel spacer to gain clearance between the sidewall of the tire and the suspension parts.

Sorry bud. 33s look damn cool anyway. My pictures in posts #6 and #15 show a set of 285 65 R 18. They measure out at 11.5 x 33
