Default Radiator improvements?

Does anyone have any inside knowledge on the differences between the LR3 radiator part number PCC500630 and the newer part number LR021777? Were there any critical flaws with the earlier part? Or any must-have improvements with the later part? My gut feeling for almost all auto parts is that quality will be reduced as much as possible to maximize profit, so I prefer older genuine parts. But then again, sometimes there's a design flaw, and a part MUST be improved. I'm wondering if there's any insight, or if there's no difference at all. What say ye?

My current radiator is leaking on the LHD passenger side side tank near the top, so I'll be replacing it ASAP. I can source a PCC500630 for a satisfactory price, but many more sellers are stocking only LR021777 (at varying price points).

As always thanks for your input!

I am not aware. Keep in mind that often new part numbers are generated when the same part is used on a new model. That may include some sorta small change required for the new model that does not impact its use on the original intended vehicle.

Did you ever find a good replacement radiator? I'm running into the same issue and ordered an LR021777, but the plastic clips on the top and bottom aren't fitting. Did you run into that at all?

I must admit, I never fitted the genuine LR021777 I bought for not cheap—it’s still in storage. Shortly after the purchase but before fitment, the leaking stopped, and I’ve noticed no further issues with coolant loss. Perhaps the dealer I bought it from used some stop-leak (I know!) and it just took a while to do its thing.

Someday when I’m looking to cuss at something, I’ll go ahead and install it, at which time I hope to not have the same issue you’re experiencing.
