Default RAI/Snorkel wind noise

Planning on installing an OEM RAI/Snorkel.

Looking for other members opinions on the added wind noise. What would you rate it on a scale of 1-10?

1- being absolute silence and 10- being all windows and sunroofs open.

Thanks

OEM in theory more aerodynamic, Safari not so.
OEM fastening system is pretty **** compared to Safari however.

vibration/cavitation of the RAI in wind would drive me insane if it was not secure. Safari I know for a fact is more secure. OEM has ripped off a few cars, 2 bolts at fender vs 5 bolts for Safari. Neck is 5x 5mm rivets to a steel plate on A pillar. OEM has a worse sealing system.

Wind noise for safari was a 6. Not terrible at all. noticeable yes.

I would say that the OEM raised air intake is around a 3/4. I really don't notice much of a difference between my lr3 with the intake and my girlfriends without. The only thing that I feel makes mine louder is my roofrack. With that being said the mounting does suck, mine has never fallen off but it is only 3 bolts secure it to vehicle total. The anchors that you put in the front quarter panel will not stay in. Some people use butterfly clamps but I just used some liquid wend on the inside of the panel to keep them in place. Overall the OEM one does look very nice but what it capable of is very limited without other modifications.

Thank you for the responses. I might try and use some welding adhesive on the Rivnuts during install. Anyone run wires through the RAI?

I'm not sure why two Rivnuts wouldn't be sufficient unless they weren't installed properly. I have three small rivnuts holding in my CB antenna mount and that thing gets this **** beat out of it with no issues (it has an extremely stiff spring on it). Nothing should be banging or twisting the snorkel... it's just subjected to some wind.

Trees totally hit it. Sometimes avoidable, sometimes not.

True, but I guess if I hit it hard enough that something breaks, then I want it to be the snorkel breaking off the car and not the fender being ripped off.
