Default Rear Entertainment Map Lights 06 HSE

Somewhat of a silly question, but my curiosity is getting the best of me. Every now and then, the map light on the rear entertainment system turns red when starting up the vehicle. Any ideas as to why this is happening, or how to manually control the red lights for night time use?

Yes, we're talking about the reading lights/map lights built into the DVD system in the ceiling. Seems like it would be useful for night time use when camping, with the goal of not having to have your eyes readjust after accessing the interior of your vehicle, and being exposed to traditional incandescent/led bright lighting.
