Default Replaced Thermostat Housing - Engine Overheating Still

06 LR3 - Thermostat housing had a hole in it. I replaced the entire part with a new one that came with a factory installed new thermostat. The install went fine, however I had a very hard time getting the cooling lines to preasurize once up and running. I ended up taking it to a shop and had the system flushed. Drove fine for one day, then started overheating again. Also my heater doesn't get hot. I can smell hot coolant but nothing is leaking.

Any help is appreciated.

Bleed more air out of system and top up coolant.

What did the inside of the plastic housing look like when you took it off, and how much did it overheat before replacement?

I have seen that housing completely melt on the inside and get plastic all throughout the system creating blockages.

Yeah, I'm concerened that there could be some kind of blockage. I have a steady stream of coolant returning to my reservior, so If I do, it's not a complete blockage, but I do experience some overheating spikes. I have no engine light indicators or errors. The vehicle is running fine. (other than overheating) which I can return the tempature to normal by blasting the heater, but the heater doesn't blow hot air.
I get to and from work ok, but I'm affraid to drive it any further for fear of damage.
