Default Replacing Radiator

Just noticed my 05 LR3 radiator is leaking antifreeze from the passenger side below the upper radiator hose. Doesn't look like its coming from the hose, so I'm guessing it's the connection between the plastic and aluminum.

Anyway, I'm planning on replacing the radiator myself, but had a shop tell me the A/C system needs to be evacuated when doing this job? Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? It's the only thing holding me back from ordering a replacement radiator. Thanks.

they don't know what they are talking about. The Ac condenser is held to the rad by a few 8mm bolts, once undone you can remove the rad with condenser in place.

In fact, they suck. Sometimes the Land Rover manual will instruct to do things like they are proposing when it doesnt really need to be done. in this case LR isn't even suggesting that. I would never go to that shop again.

That was my thought too but I wanted to double check before ordering parts. I typically do all my own work anyway but like to get quotes sometimes in case the job is reasonably priced to save myself some time.

I'm going to go ahead and get the radiator ordered. Thanks.
