Default Rest in pieces Disco 1......Hello LR3 build!

Hi all,
It has been a long time since I have had anything to post.If you remember back in November I was hit by a drunk driver head on.Thanks to my Disco my daughter and myself were not hurt. The Disco was totaled and sold off for parts.
I have been searching for the past year for the right D1 but no such luck.Well last week I came across a LR3 with 77,000 miles.I fell iin love pretty quick and thought I would start a new build thread. So far I have just changed the air filter with a K&N,Changed the oil.Installed new plugs(not bad),and cleaned the throttle body.I found what looks like a home fix for a leak on the thermostat housing.Ever see any crap like this?

The thermostat and plastic housing / crossover should be changed all at once. That's the tell tale signs of a current or past leak. I wouldn't gamble on a patched up piece of plastic not giving up the ghost at the worst possible moment.

Yup,already ordered the parts.
I have never seen a repair done quite like that.I will also be replacing the coolant tank as the sensor is sinking.

For what it worth this is the condition of the plugs after 77,000 miles.
Glad I changed them.Tommorow rotors and pads.

Thanks Tom.I figure I will hit everything just for peace of mind.Seller had some maintenance records but not a lot.Today I hit the rear rotors and pads. This was my first
Experience with air suspension. Not bad after a little research.Went with EBC pads and rotors.I hope to do the front next weekend along with the thermostat housing and expansion tank.

I use the EBC's so far I've been happy. I got over 80k on the first rotors. The rotors need a light turn at each pad fitting. I recently switched to the yellow stuff pads to see how they work. The pads you have won't last as long as you might expect. They do work will though.

Good to know.I should have my thermostat housing and coolant tank for this weekend but I am not exited about coolant flush.I still have nightmares from removing the air from the D1!

I also gave the throttle body a deep cleaning.Burping the system was a job in itself. So far no more low coolant warning and no leaks.Hope to have the rest of my parts next week for front rotors ans a roof rack.It is nice to have a project again.

Still waiting on parts.Got a $12 key fob shell and ordered a new battery for about the same.
There is a great thread on Disco3 on rebuilding the key.Mine was in pretty bad shape and the battery was dead.Used the original key and soldered in a new battery on to the circuit board, popped it in the new case and for $24 bucks I have a new key.
