Roof Rack help...

You are forgiven and you are not ignorant by any means. I thought it a well known shortening of the words 'Center of Gravity'. Basically if your vehicle can be top heavy, adding things to the top of it is not the best idea but often is necessary as space may be limited inside as is the case with mine.

Not to be a stickler but the conventional acronym for Center of Gravity is "CG."

Perhaps that is why it was confusing him. I have only said it the way I have heard and seen it..never been conventional :-)
