Default Seat heater

My drivers seat heater does not work. Im getting this code B1A73-18 (6C) Left seat heater - General electrical failure - circuit current below threshold. I’d assume I need to pull the seat and check for wire issues. If I can’t find an obvious wire issue what can I look at next? I want my keister to be nice and toasty this winter.

I have the same problem, but rear passenger so I haven't looked at it (kids in car seats still).

I think it is usually just a broken wire in the heating element.
Requires removing seat cover and inspecting - then solder/repair the break.

Worst case, I would consider replacing the seat with a salvage one - maybe one with better leather than yours, if yours is as worn as mine looks.
But I bet you'd see your problem after opening it up.

I have completely removed the leather from the seats in the 2nd row and highly recommend finding entire new seats and swapping them out. To put the leather back on and have it look like new is not an easy task. Check the wiring under the seat and hopefully you can find something but if it is with the seat warmers that are glued to the foam and under the leather it is a difficulty task to get to them and more difficult to put back where you would be happy with the result.

good to know about the challenges.
when the time comes, I will consider this route.

I guess it could be worth trying to repair first, if replacement is the other option anyway.

This is all good information! Thank you for your input. I’ve taken the drivers seat out and looked for an issue with a wire. I never found anything visible. I don’t want to take the leather seat cover off and replace the heating element. I’d rather buy a used seat from eBay. My seat has some cracks anyway. Time to replace I guess.
