More updates.
So, having had it in the actual dealer, who, said I had a bad ignition coil put in, I got it home only to fing it is still misfiring.... had it towed back.
They look at it, tell me the spark plug in cylinder #2 was loose, that was the misfire. Engine running fine after they torqued it back in.
Also said I had a coolant leak around the thermostat housing. And a frayed engine woring harness.
HOW THE ACTUAL HELL DOES THIS AFFECT MY E-TEST, AND WHY CAN THEY NOT FIGURE THIS OUT??????????

I went in tonight to pick it up...... everyone was gone, and they couldnt find my key for some reason. I had my spare though. Got in truck to drive home...... still slight miss at low RPM, idle dips a little below 500 at times.
Drives well when gas is applied, but I can feel a miss when its at constant low RPM (2000 or less)
Engine light came back on at 40kms.
I am beside myself with anger right now. This truck was running fine when I brought it into the first mechanic. I have no idea how they broke it, but it is a misfiring piece of **** now. All plugs changed and a bunch of coils.
I really want to know what my rights are with the first mechanics at Canadian Tire. AL I WANTED WAS AN E-TEST. Now I am looking at a broken truck.

Contact a Canadian consumer protection organization near you, and ask what they think. See if you can file an insurance claim.
For now you can have it actually fixed at a dealer. You need to sit down with the tech when they 'fix' it next, go out and drive and ensure for yourself that the issue has gone away, not picking it up after hours, which was a mistake to do. You are your own biggest advocate. Save your receipts and perhaps insurance will help with those.
Its a bad lesson but it could always be a more expensive one, or one where someone got hurt.
