Default Shifter Issues

Hello to all,
I am new to the site. My son and I are fixing up an 06 LR3. The issue we have choose to tackle next has to do with the shifter. If you put it in DRIVE too hard it puts it into "Limp" Mode. If you put it in PARK too soft it won't let you take the key out of the ignition. There has to be an adjust meant to this or a part we can replace. Any Help would be great.

Thanks in advance,
KD

Some ideas:
- adjust the selector level cable underneath
- failing that and if everything underneath looks rusty, get a shifter linkage repair kit

Take some silicone spray and nuke the shift linkage. I think it is passenger side toward the front corner of the trans. Tricky to see behind the heat shield.

I bought a LR3 that has the won't go into "D" problem, and Im asking about to see if there is anything to try above the vehicle just to get it home where I can work on it properly. Rather not climb under in the dirt where it is if I don't have to.

The above info we’ve given should be sufficient.

If not, put it in neutral and push it on a trailer. 🤷‍♂️

So to answer my own question-Nope, can't get there from the top. Some PB Blaster and a bit of light precussive adjustment and I drove my $500 LR3 home.

Here it is in all of it's grubby glory.
As found in the trees, lots of needles in the vent by the windshield. But anything you can drive home for 5 benjies smells like victory to me. And smells a bit like weed.
