Default SRS Airbag light diagnostics help needed.

I’ve got this code on my 05’ LR3. Unfortunately it’s been on since I’ve bought it a few months ago. Where would the sensor be located, “Drivers frontal stage 1”?

Airbag
  • B0001-1B (AF) Driver's frontal stage 1 - deployment control - General electrical failure - circuit resistance above threshold

If cleared does it come right back? Your fault was recorded back in April so it makes me wonder if it is a current issue or something old that was never properly cleared. Driver front, stage one sounds like the air bag in the steering wheel but I'm not 100%.

Using GapD11 as soon as cleared it comes straight back.
Cant find a like description within Gap so can’t monitor it in Live Values.
People have suggested the steering wheel clock spring to the seatbelt mechanism

Seat belt latch would probably have it's own fault and is usually called a pretensioner in the fault description. You can email GAP directly with your fault info and they can help you as well. It wouldn't hurt to check fuses too.

I had this issue after I dropped something down by the seat belt wires and fished around for it. Confirmed it was the seat belt signal with a GAP IID tool. I'm guessing I tugged on a wire. I resolved by 1) pulling the seat belt sensor wires back towards the buckle to give it some slack near the buckle, 2) pushing in all the connectors under the seat, and 3) plugging the seat belt in BEFORE starting the vehicle. With the seat belt connected at start-up, the airbag light went away within seconds as usual. Several normal starts later and its back to normal operation (only on for a few seconds when the vehicle is started). Hoping it stays functioning, I'll post an update if it returns.
