Default SRS light & 10 year airbag service

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is an overwhelming nr 1 culprit for the SRS light to display, or could it be a multitude of things? Is there a way to diagnose the issue without going to the garage?

And finally; anyone have an estimate how much it costs to get your airbag system serviced, as is recommended every 10 years? Mine is now due from 2001.

Thanks

On most cars the ten year inspection involves sitting in the car, turning the key on and looking for the srs light to come on and go off.

Since your light is already on, it fails the inspection.

The rotary coupler is a pretty common failure.

There are a number of faults that can cause an SRS light, none being that the Manufacture wants you to replace the old bags at 10 years.

Resolved: I disconnected the "connector" underneath the drivers seat, behind driver at passengers feet, blew it out for dust etc and reconnected; and magic; it worked! So for anyone with an SRS light; I suggest you try this :-)

Not sure if this is it on your disco II but when I removed the fan blower in the passenger foot well I unplugged a wire and have had the SRS blink ever since.. It is plugged in and still light.
