Default SRS light

The other day I had my SRS light come on. I took it to the dealer to have it check out. They came back with a $1200 quote.

They came back with Part #

Air bag steering ROLRO012986
Coupling and UJ Coupling and UJ

Is this common with the LR3? Could this be something I repair myself or just put a piece of tape over it and forget about it?

Thanks Braden

See https://www.cubby.com/pl/LR3+worksho...raint%20System for clockspring and SRS. You can read over the shop manual and decide if you can do it. Links to whole shop manual below.

When working on SRS always follow manual to the letter, especially the part about disconnecting battery.

Places like this one have them LR3 Clock Springs/Cruise Control Spiral Cassette ; about $200.

Now I did not find your part number, so it might be something else. When I looked in the Microcat, the coupling and U joint for steering column has multiple part numbers based on VIN.

clocksprings have had issues there was a recall about the problem but we just installed some little parts to avoid them from breaking. if its a driver air bag fault I would start with the clockspring. Lord knows the guys at the shop could have easily swapped a known good air bag to see if the went away. takes all of two minutes. if it didn't I would lean for the clockspring.
