Default Stalling while off road while ascending

Need some help in this one. Was on a mild trail today and my 2005 lr3 started to stall out at low RPM under 2500 under load. Was at roughly 5,000 feet elevation with a full take of gas. When I was able to pull over to a safe area had the smell of gas from near the fill neck and can see some gas dropping to the ground near that point as well also when I removed the gas cap it seamed to equalize the pressure for a min Let it rest for about 20 min then come tuned on with the stalling happening intermediately the rest of the trail. Did happen 1 to 2 times on the road home at stops. Freway speeds no issues. Was reading that might be evap canister. Anyone else run into this and have a solve for it? She has 207k on her.. Thanks

Evap sounds very plausible. Do you ever "top off" the tank when filling?

I'd did on this trip about 11 miles before the trail.

Usually a bad idea form what I have read. Basically let the gas pump click off on its own, if you put more in after that you risk fuel flooding the evap system. I think its vented into the filler neck.

So just an update on this. Cleaned the throttle body it was dirty. Also replaced the evap canaster and dtml pump. I filled her up today when leaving work and drove home. It stalled again coming off the freeway there is nice steep turn coming off the freeway and was 90 outside today too. any thing else I can look at? No codes

So found the issue. Looks like someone replaced the gas take already put in a new pump but failed to put the tube that sit over the pump back in place. It was just put the the side tucked next to a baffel.
