Default Stinky Seat: Tips for Cleaning Perforated Leatherette

Hi!

The previous owner had a massive water leak which got on the seats. Nice, beachy humid weather caused the wetness to get moldy. I cleaned up most of it, but I get whiffs of cheesy mold on the passenger seat (and it’s not from a passenger’s butt).

I’ve done applications of a vinegar and water solution as well as a light application of some Tilex (hold your fire!). Any other tips? I could take my Bissel carpet cleaner to it, but I don’t think that will help much. I’m tempted to remove the cover to expose the foam cushion and clean that way.

Removing the cover may be the only way you’ll get it clean. This sticky has great info on how to do it.

Try some enzyme cleaner. IDK what’s available on the US market but they’re extremely good at getting rid of odors and “biological stuff”

Yeah, you will have to move. And I suggest an o-zone machine.
