Default Strange LR3 EAS Issue

I have had my new to me 05 LR3 for about 3 weeks now and have found the strangest 'issue' with the Air Suspension.

On the way into town here there is a long 1.5-2 mile downhill section of road. It's a pretty significant grade at close to highway speeds. Near the bottom there is a traffic light. The last two times I have driven down the hill when I have made nearly to the bottom when I get a Red EAS Fault Warning under braking. As soon as I slow down for the light or make it back to level ground. The fault clears.

I have tried to replicate the issue on a few other hills and can not. I can cycle through all heights without issue and have no had any other warnings. I have even parked on a very steep slope to see if I can replicate the issue.

The only theory I have is maybe a height sensor issue or that particular scenario, long downslope, at high speeds under braking is confusing the control computer?

Any thought or steps I can take to investigate. I would prefer not to bring the car in to chase down something that can't be recreated.

Default Keep asking the question.

If no one here comes up with an answer, I think you will have to keep asking that question on the other forums.

Myself, so far I have not had the problem and really have no idea. And yes, if you cannot replicate the problem, it is no use taking it in to a dealer. Some times what I will do is ask at my LR parts counter as to if they have heard of whatever my current problem is. I make it a habit to purchase stuff there so I am known however.

Sometimes the parts guys know and hence what to sell you to self fix a problem.

Thanks.. I was literally on the way back from GB Rovers when it happened today. I will certainly ask around.

Even if you can't replicate the fault, a history code will still be logged. Of course this requires some sort of tool capable of accessing the suspension module (RLM).

These particular symptoms I have not seen before, as most suspension faults will keep the indicator illuminated until a key cycle. If you do get it scanned for fault codes, I would be curious to see what was logged.

Thanks for the response.. Had it happen a third time yesterday on the way back from the Land Rover dealer (picked up new sunroof drains after a wet floor following a car wash). I am going to try to get back down there and see if they can find any codes but I have no lights (amber or red) and the issue cleared itself in 1 minute max.

Any chance it could be a height sensor out of range or going bad? I just noticed the back passenger side has more space btwn the wheel and the wheel well in access mode while in my garage? I dont have Nav so I can't check it out the 4x4 screen.

So it was checked at a LR Dealer today.

Found U0416-68 Invalid Data and C1A07-62 Cross Articulation. Tech said they checked sensors(tested normal, ride height was normal), writing, etc: No issues. Updated EAS software and cleared all the faults, charged for 1.5 hours labor.

20 mins into the drive home the same error. Error resolved itself by the time I get home(3-4 more mins). As it sits in the driveway no error lights EAS works perfect. Going back to the dealer on Monday morning, when I called from the road their next thought was water intrusion. I repaired the drivers side sunroof drain last weekend after I found a wet floor after a car wash and saw no evidence of corrosion anywhere under the carpet. Dealer did wash car after service but I can't find moisture anywhere inside, and previous error incidences have not related to water.

Anyone have suggestions?

05s had lots of issues with water intrusion in the wiring to the sensors. wet it down and see what happens. or check the passenger side for water intrusion into connectors inside the vehicle.

There is a service bulletin for the Cross Articulation fault. They should have replaced all four sensors with updated ones in conjunction with the software update.

Dealer handled it pretty well today. Took the truck all day spent most of the day chasing down a malfunctioning right rear height sensor. Replaced the sensor and harness, charged me very fairly after the misfire on Friday. I sat in stop and traffic for HOURS after (due to a crazy police chase and shooting) and the error didn't return. Fingers crossed.
