Default Stupid question time - inner tie rod ends

New Lemforder parts came today. I know the outside tie rod ends are the same part. The inner rods are different part numbers. I suspected different threads for whatever reason. But maybe that is not the case? The ends that thread into the rack are very different in size. I hope that is the way it should be. Before I rip into the project, I would just like to confirm if this is normal or not. I do know there was a change in parts with a VIN split in 2009, but I have a 2006 LR3.

Sweet! Thats the clarification I was looking for. Much appreciated.

So I replace the passenger side, inner and outer. Pretty easy job! It was indeed worn but I still have a clunk on that side. Darn it! I will replace driver side asap. Then onto the upper control arms I think.

Be sure to check your sway bar links and bushings as well.

Sway bar links I did first. But I did swap one back to the original after the new one failed in just a couple weeks (AC Delco). I may swap the passenger side back too, the old ones were in good shape. Sway bar bushings I did last week, OEM parts.

Just an update related to my last post on this thread. Just adding that not much longer, weeks/a couple months, the other AC Delco front sway bar link failed. These parts did not last long at all. I got them from Rock Auto so I hope they were legit and not counterfeit. So I had been driving quite some time on the factory ones. A month or so ago a factory one, about 125,000 miles, finally started making some noise. I have since replaced both with Delphi band links. Will see how long they last. The one good factory link has no play but certainly is worn. I will keep it in the truck as a backup for now.
