Sunroof drain without removing the central junction box
I removed the visors and overhead handles to give enough access under the headliner to disconnect the sunroof drain tube from the roof trough nipple.
Then I fed weed eater line through the old tube, then pulled the old tube out while leaving the weed eater line in place.
Next, from above the dash, I fed the weed eater line through the new tube assembly, EEH500100.
I pulled the weed eater line and new tube together, down through the air intake port which guided the new tube nicely behind the CJB until I could reach the tip of the new nipple and work it into position from the outside.
This method was relatively easy and does not run the risk of disrupting the CJB connections.
I can’t take credit for the idea. I know I read it somewhere before, but can’t remember exactly where. I can confirm that it works well!
TBH removing the CJB is easy but less work is always better, i need to do my driver side drain but that means removing the snorkel which is a pain in the ****.
This method worked for me as well. The only snag I hit was pulling up on the existing tube just pulled the tube out of the grommet. I had to tie a knot in the trimmer line and pull up on that to retrieve the grommet. The new one was a little tricky to get inserted but I coated it in silicone grease and was able to pull it through without too much damage. I used RRS tubes, they are a little bit longer but I didn't have any issue just cutting them down and connecting to the sunroof pan, the grommets look the same.
The best lesson learned I can pass along is to just release the front 2/3rds of the headliner and replace all 4 tubes in one go. This way you can skip adding any splice fittings and chasing clogs. I started by replacing just the ends on the drivers front and rear but I ultimately had to drop the headliner partially to replace this one over the junction box and then drop it the rest of the way to replace the right rear tube which didn't want to drain. I would avoid leaving too much slack in the tubes because this seems to cause kinks or sags that can prevent draining.

did you knot the weed eater line? Wondering how you pulled it down to get behind the junction box?
