ordered beads today. Should be here tomorrow. Not sure what I'll do with the other 1.75 lbs in the container

I believe the line is 10 mm on one, 8mm on the other?

Just had a realization. This unit was removed by the previous owner for a refurb. When I took it out, the line not exactly attached tightly. I then realized the two hoses at the back of the unit - the ones picture above could have been reversed.

Jump ahead to putting this Hitachi back...how do I know which one goes to which connector? As I said, they were not attached tightly so perhaps the wrong size tube was installed (thereby negating the 10mm/8mm size connector fitting). In fact, I think they put a 10mm Push to connect where the 8mm was. See picture - you can see it says 10mm.

Given that - what should I do?

Well since you can operate it with no lines attached at all, it really would not matter much. One is exhaust, one is intake. While the piping is different overall I am not aware of any check valve or such. Operate without either line attached. Also post pics of the lines themselves, the more you can show the better. You could be right that they hacked something and you have two 10mm. But upstream should be something that shows which should be which, like another couple for the size change.

I will do that.

Does hooking up any of them abate the noise somewhat (ie. the exhaust?). I can't believe this thing is this noisy. Is that a by product of last-legness or failure to mitigate the exhaust?

any idea what the best way is to renew the filters - if I don't want to buy new ones - can I use anything else?

I think a good compressor can blow out the filters pretty good.

The filters are felt and i think you'll struggle to clean them out, could try to get some from a craft store ?
