Switching out 2006 LR3 HSE Front drivers seat
Anybody replace a 2006 LR3 HSE seat with a 2007 or 2008? With the lumbar support.
Can it be done?
Did a search and haven't seen anything about it.
The FSM pdf manual I have doesn't include it and doesn't show it in the wiring.
Would I have to go with the 2005 manual lumbar?
Didn't realize it didn't have it when I bought it. Kept reaching back for the button like my 2008 and then thought the dealer tried to pull a fast one on me. But no, 2006 HSE = no lumbar support. (at least some of them I hear)
Thanks in advance

Interesting... I don't even see the lumbar "airbag" or "motor" or whatever on my seat wiring diagram. I wonder if it's because I happened to download the wiring diagram for 2006 LR3s... and I don't have lumbar either. I would imagine there is are some separates wire for allowing the memory control module to communicate with the lumbar switch. However, if the lumbar position is not stored in memory, then perhaps this isn't the case. Maybe somebody else with lumbar can chime in. Unfortunately, I see nothing at all on my wiring diagram for lumbar, so I can't really help.
There have been references made to people swapping RRS seats into LR3, they look worse IMO but apparently more comfortable. Sorry I can only say I have "heard" of it spoken. Try searching through the Expedition Portal RRS build, that's the last time I saw comments mentioning people doing it.
I imagine you could swap in the newer LR3 seats with lumbar support but you'd need to change the ECU firmware?
