So, I've got the snapped cable tail gate won't open problem and yes I've seen all the threads. Went out there with two flathead screw drivers and took some carpet out and without breaking anything I have no idea how people pry that plastic out. It's up there a good 3/4 of an inch at least under that other plastic top piece.

So, I give up. Can't win them all. The good news is I have now completely messed up the carpet. It's beyond saving so it's coming off after the dealer fixes the cable.

If you had a blank sheet and could put any surface area back on there what would you go with. Wood, steel or more carpet?

Thought it might be nice to be able to hang a flashlight, shovel, recovery rings or have a different surface. Rubber or steal might be good.

Thoughts?

 

I'd go rubber if it was me, but that's just personal preference.

 

I just bought new one lol! Didn't turn out to be that expensive.
