Default TD engine(s) in U.S.?

Does anyone know/speculate why Land Rover hasn't introduced either one of their European turbo diesel engines (TD V6 3.0 or TD v6 2.7) in the U.S. for the new LR4/Discovery 4?

FWIW The cost of getting an engine emission certified is huge. Those engines might not even meet our guidelines/be incompatible with the new 50ppm low sulfur diesel. I wish they would. I have seen their economy specs, and knowing TD performance would love to have one or two of my own.

They have talked it up and won't do anything till the economy and sales greatly improve.
