Thermostat Housing LR3 V8 4.4
Not sure what you mean by weak point. The OEM ones last 150k or more. Mine was still good at 190k but I replaced it anyway as part of a coolant overhaul - figured 17 years and that may miles, time to do it all.
i have always asked mechanics to please buy me oem but the things appear to not hold up.
This is a different mechanic but im going to get the part this time.does atlantic british have the same part as dealer?
Thank you
I bought mine from Parts Geek. I like to shop around for the best deal and they had "Genuine" ones for $100. When it arrived, it certainly looked original but the LR part numbers and logos were ground off - a someone common thing parts movers do to move badged parts. My OEM control arms came the same way, excited they missed a couple LR logos.
Also to add, I think one issue *might* be with installation. I noticed its best to tighten the front facing bolts of the housing first and then tighten the four in the back above the pump area. Although you want to put all bolts in first, just loosely. Because if you tighten the rear ones then tighten the forward ones, they ends up being pressure on the neck because the forward ones will slide the entire assembly back a couple millimeters. So that *could* be why some have issues with lesser ones, or even OEM maybe, cracking not long after install.
