Default Thump thump thump goes the beat of my...

Rear hub?

Started hearing a noise - increases with speed - like a thump-thump-thump coming from either the rear or front passenger side. Not sure what it is. Almost completely disappears at higher speeds.

Thought it may be the hub, but there is no grinding sound.

Assuming you have checked the carrier bearing on the rear driveshaft?

I think you'll have to help me out here on that one. No idea where to look.

Is is this the centre bearing that supports the shaft? If it's done, is there an easy way to replace or does the whole shaft need to come out?

Yes the center support bearing on the shaft. Easiest method is to pull the shaft and toss it in the trash and order a new one. That is what I have done on both my trucks. Pretty reasonable for a new one.

Thanks.

I’m thinking it’s less of a thump now - tbh I’ve had a centre bearing go on a Toyota and it’s a hell of a lot noisier than this.

I think it’s more like the sound of something rubbing (weep weep weep) lol. It gets faster then disappears as the speed increases. It’s not a squeal like a brake warning

Well bearings are pretty easy to check. I have not done my rears yet as they are a project onto themselves. But the fronts are very straight forward and not difficult. As for rear shafts, I will be ordering one before winter and replacing it just as general maintenance.

There's a good thought. I will check.

Also, I noticed that pressing my brakes arrests this noise - only to return when taking my foot off.

could be a warped rotor too in that case
