Default tighten or loosen the shift cable?

Sometimes my LR3 doesn't know it is in park. I need to push the shift lever forward, towards the glove box and then start the car while pushing.

Do I need to tighten or loosen the shift cable?

Thanks

Neither, you need to adjust it.

You may just need to lubricate it. Passenger side on the side of the trans. Spray some silicone lube at the cable end.

I will spray the fitting, thanks. It would seem the fitting would just need to be changed the smallest amount and I was hoping someone might know if i screw in the adjustment or would be screwing out the adjustment.

Thanks

You could loosen the bolt that pinches the cable at the RD and take in the slack. Do this with the RD in the smallest rear gear.

You may still have to fine tune the shifting. Suggest you set the barrel adjustment to the middle of its range before doing this so you have some room Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox to adjust.
