My discovery won't shift from 4H anyone know what might be the problem?

 

More details - shift lever won't move from this position, can't go into N or P or R ? Transmission fluid level OK? Cable from shifter to XYZ switch pack on left side of transmission attached properly (should be able to see it move while someone shifts)?

 

Assuming you have been able to shift it before and know how to do it, then the shift solenoid located on the t/case has failed. To fix this issue, you can replace it with a new one or have it removed to save buying a new one, if you do that you must remember to shift the tranny into "N" before shifting the t/case.

@Mike, I have never driven my discovery off road before and would like to but I read instructions to place it in N AT 5MPH TO SHIFT tried that and still could not move from 4h, is it supposed to be on 4h on a regular basis?
