Default Transfer case motor replacement on 2006 LR 3

Hi All, and Happy New Year,
It appears that I need to change the transfer case motor on my 2006 LR 3 with about 178,000 miles on the speedo. After looking the job and TC over, I can see that the top two bolts on the Transfer Case motor are very difficult to get to. Is it possible to lower the TC a little to access those bolts, and what is the easiest way to do that?

You can lower transfer case a few inches by removing a crossmember where T case is secured to . Make sure you support the case with bottle jack, and few wide wooden blocks as base. If you go this route, don't forget to put something soft in between the jack hydraulic pin and T case alloy shell. Hope this helps.

Default Transfer case motor replacement on 2006 LR 3

Thank you for this very helpful info and I was hoping to hear something like this. I think I should be able to get the top 2 bolts on the motor with just a couple of inches clearance. I will give it a try. Thank you again!

You may want to have wrenches on hand to assist. Sockets may be too big to fit, even with lowered.
