Transfer Case Royal Purple Oil

I would imagine. No idea what the gears/bushings look like inside. I’ll probably change again soon to see condition of the fluid.I still have the old vent cap on the front diff. I should do something about that too.

Yeah...I started changing every 2000 miles after they were new and breaking in....(I'd changed them)...and then after they came back clean and no metal on plug, I moved to a 15k change interval.
The new vent cap is cheap and so easy to "install" that you'll wish you'd done it a long time ago.

Sorry for the thread drift.....
I felt that $45 plus shipping for the newly designed vent is unreasonable. I was leaning towards the ARB breather kit that includes hoses and a central diaphragm for 2 lines. Or, I might just run a hose into the airbox! I'm more worried about the pressure and pulling water into the diff past seals than water intrusion through the vent.

I just bought one a couple weeks ago from roverware dot us for $23 shipped.

Front diff and transfer case both changed this weekend and both perfectly normal. That's good as it shows the noise is not likely to be any significant wear in either of the diffs or the transfer case as there was nothing on the diff plugs or the transfer case which I put a magnet on. I've also check the carrier bearing again today and no play there. So the bad news is I still don't know what is causing the noise and its getting worse, pretty much constant now.
I don't think its a wheel bearing as its just not got the traditional symptoms of that, but I'll check them all next weekend.
