Transmission Faults
Hey! So I’m new to this and have a few things going on. I have an LR3 06 with about 116,000 mi. The other day my check engine light came on and when I went to autozone they said I had some misfires in the cylinder and a few of them noted “misfire low fuel” or something of the sort.. The guy said this can probably be fixed with a tune up? Is this true?
Also.. I spilled a bit of liquid in my center console and now there is an orange park brake light on the dash. My car is stuck in park. Is there a way I can disengage the park brake manually so that I can shift gears?? My battery has died bc the system thought the key was still in the ignition. I assumed it would turn off? That was my bad.
I’ve been reading on here all day and I figured out how to take off the console but can’t seem to get it past the shifter.. I saw there was a way to remove it, but how? Is it as simple as pulling it up??
Somebody help! 🤦🏽*♀️

Pull up on the shift **** really hard!....but don't hit yourself in the face. I've read that that happens a lot. The transmission can be forced into gear AND the park brake has a release. To get to either you have to remove the little rubber thing on the side of the center console...the thing that is handy for storing phones and such. I've not done this myself but you should be able to find help on the "how-to" from either one of the message boards or the manual.

Yeah when I bought the car it didn’t come with a handbook.. Do you know how it can be removed? I was looking at that piece yesterday but wasn’t sure. Also once I get it off will I have to shift gears this way until I can get the issue resolved? Or will it fix it permanently? And as far as the park brake, what does it look like underneath and how do I get it to release?

For the park brake, I believe there is a little nylon loop that you hook with one of the tools in the boot, and yank on it. I can't answer your questions about your gear shifting, but maybe you are stuck in Park because your battery is dead. I'd probably start by putting in a new battery, actually.
The LR3 responds very well to "fresh voltage."

Okay! So I charged the battery, found the park release and got the truck to shift! Whoop whoop!! I drove it around the corner, and everything (minus the check engine light) on the dash was cleared. However.. After bringing it back and cutting it off, when I restarted it the fault message came back on the dash in the speedometer. I am able to shift the gears but I do have to manually press the button where I found the release. Why does the car think the key is in the ignition?? Although the beeping did turn off after about 20 seconds. I’m thinking about letting it charge overnight. Do you think this will help?
