Default UNDOING a Used Cluster Mileage Rewrite? 2008 LR3

2008 LR3 HSE.

Had a failing cluster, read all the warnings about not using a used cluster with an unacceptable amount of higher miles due to the vehicle having a "choose the higher mileage" decision tree built into it, ordered a cluster within 1000 miles of my vehicle, connected it to my vehicle only to see the cluster was actually 70k miles more than my vehicle. Did not go further in the process, installed OG failing cluster, then bit the bullet and made an appt for a dealership new cluster install a few weeks out.

During that time, the OG failing cluster still showed the real mileage of my car (106,xxx mi). After my all day appointment, which was a classic dealership nightmare for a number of reasons, I went to drive away and noticed the vehicle had 176xxx miles on it. So obviously, somehow the vehicle "read" that used ODO and stored that somewhere in it's brain despite the OG failing odometer showing me the actual mileage for weeks.

My question now is – does anybody know if a JLR dealer can actually just rewrite the odometer in the actual vehicle to the correct original mileage that is reflected in 15 years of service records?

I'm aware of the complications required to even reach a level of trust with them to do something like this, but I'm specifically looking to know if it can be done, not whether or not I can convince them to do it.

Cheers.
