Unusual engine in my LR3
My LR3 finally blew its engine on the motorway the other day. Its a fantastic car, but its done 330,000 kilometers so ..
Anyway, it needs a replacement engine, but my local Land Rover garage tells that for a short period in production, Land Rover fitted a different engine in the LR3 and mine has that rare engine.
Does anyone know anything about this? I have the Engine number (8658204816406PN) its making it harder to find a replacement used engine.

Its not rare or unusual, it was a common option in North America, Australia and New Zealand . Not a bad motor but not as powerful as the V8 or TDV6, not known for their economy either.
Ah yes, but, the V6 is a common option here in the Middle East, but what they are saying is that during the production run of the LR3 V6, for a few short months they fitted a different V6 engine and I have that engine. Presumably there were supply problems from Ford, as I understand the original V6 was sourced from Ford.
Its a ford motor that was also used in some mazda models, nothing else will fit unless it was made specifically for LR. The number your posted is probably a serial number as a search doesnt bring anything up, i've never heard of any other engine being used.
Have you taken the cover off and taken any pics of it ?
