A quick question: Is the 4.4 V8 in LR3 BMW's V8? I used to have E39 540i and that was a terrific engine...

It's the AJV8, increased from 4.2 to 4.4. It has more torque. The engine is great, but it seems to have too little torque for such a heavy car though.

 

I think they have done a good job balancing the need for extra torque with gas milage ratings on the 4.4 If you want to see what a bad joke a dealer can come up with, look at the V6. Tons of less HP and torque and saves you ONE MPG. haha, good one. Agree that it can feel sometimes a little slow if compared to Bmer power, victim of the supper heavy weight of the LR3, perhaps offering the Super Charged version in the future would help solve that problem.
