Have a water leak on the passenger side front to back along sill in my 2005 LR3. In addition at the same time my three key fobs will no longer lock or unlock the vehicle. Thinking that could be due to corroded wires in the wiring loom under the sill plate cover. Have removed the sill cover to expose the heavy plastic plate. Does anyone know how the black plastic sill plate is removed? Appears to have some white clips and that the plate may slide forward so the clips are in line with a round cut out and then slid forward up and off. I removed the side vent and found that the end of the sun roof drain is toast and must be replaced. Another question do the seats need to come out to remove the sill cover plate? Hard to tell is the front seat mount sits on top of the sill plate. If not it is a very close fit. A little worried about taking the fuse box out to install new tube on passenger side. Drivers side seems to be a lot easier to complete. Pic attached of the sill plate clip. I'm considering doing a complete replacement of the sun roof drains by removing trim front to back and dropping the roof and checking the wiring loom splices on passenger side. Also may need to check the passenger pillar cover after researching on the forum. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Not sure about the removal of the sill trim plate, but you're on the right track with the source of the water ingress. There are three points that are typical:
The entire plate slides forward. It extends into the second row, so you have to pull more plastic bits to access it. I recommend you pull the lower interior B pillar trim to make things easier.
Thanks for replies. Checked filter box and it is dry and cowl appears good. Do not have much experience removing trim pieces and any information helps.

Reason: Correction
I had gallons of water in my passenger footwell. I started by replacing the sunroof drain tube. Super hard to get to, you have to remove the fuse block. There are two plugs on the back that are a pain in the ***. After replacing the drain tube. This did not fix my leak. I then replaced the windshield cowl. It’s hard to tell if your cowl is defective. After replacing the cowl months ago. I’ve had a nice dry floor board. Replacing the cowl fixed my leak and was super easy. Took about 15min.

All of the above is good info about water ingress and trim removal. I find for the threshold that runs from front and back is to loosen it then lift it straight up to headrest height then pull it out though the back door.
As for the black cover the wire channel, I loosen the seat and move it up and over (or flip it onto the lowered back seat) a little to get that black channel cover off. It is easier to put a trim tool under those white snaps and pull them from the body during disassembly. during reassembly, put them on the body then move the trim sideways into place.
I am in the process of doing the same thing this weekend, but mine is from having to take a longer than planned swim to get home last week. I had to wade and 18" to 24" and found that I water ingress in the right front carpet about 200 yards into the adventure. I nw need to replace a worn/torn right front door seal.
Good luck and let us know the final results.

Appreciate the replies and thought I would post an update. First I wimped out and took my LR3 to dealership. Turned out was the passenger sun roof drain leak and corroded wire connection connected to key fob operation. Dealership replaced both front drain tubes and they are working properly. They dried the wiring loom area but not the carpet which I found out later on I removed trim and pulled carpet back and worked for days drying it out. The foam holds a lot of water. Job done. Now I have another leak but on drivers side. Water draining on top of the roof lining running down the left pillar and dripping on the drivers side kick panel. It’s dripping right above the pillar trim screw cover plate. Checked roof drain and it is working. Any ideas on what is causing the leak?
I wonder if that's just a poorly installed windshield.
Also...that's not wimping out, in mind. I do lots of diagnosing and the dealer does most of my wrenching. It's just not my deal. I don't have the tools or patience. I break stuff!
I have found one dealer tech that I really like and they treat me well. Nothin' wrong with that!
Another cause may be water collecting at the top corner of the glass. Lift up the front of the trim piece that runs along the left side of the roof from the windshield back down the roof. Sometimes debris will collect under the trim right above the glass and let water collect there. This in turn can find its way into an improperly sealed windshield or worse by rusting through the metal (very unlikely). Either way water is stopped from freely flowing down along the A pillar.
The deciding point on replacing drains myself was having to remove the electrical junction box. I could see having electrical gremlins afterwards. Still have the original windshield with original seal. Could be a leaking glass seal due to the age and/or debris.. I'll check that out. Does appear the wetness is along the liner at the top of windshield in front left of visor with the wetter area being at the top of pillar. Have not had any water draining down the inside of windshield. Guess I'll start removing some trim. Really appreciate the help. I hate pulling vehicle trim pieces off for the first time. Have little experience. Seems something always breaks!
