Default Water Leak - Wet Floor - Pillars

Like many, I had a wet floor (front) on my LR3. So bad after major rain I opened my driver door and water POURED out off the foot well a couple of times. Problem started on driver side, also experienced on passenger. I checked many issues discussed here. Sunroof drains, air vent/filter, etc. The final solution was the windshield pillars. Passenger and driver. The reliable shop said it was the sunroof drains, I didn't believe it. The sunroof drains seemed to be draining well when tested and poured water into the sunroof channel, also discussed in various threads. They were draining well. Also thought it was the drain tube itself near the left foot well, they apparently rot over time. That was NOT it after pulling trim and panels inside and pouring more water into the sunroof channel. Finally figured it out, it was basically the trim holes in the windshield pillars, driver and passenger, leaking into the inside. Gaskets from the pillar trim almost forcing the water into the pillar holes. I pulled the outside pillar trim, by hand, from outside pillars. I replaced the circular snap fittings with new pieces and gaskets (there is a kit), and I applied small circles of flashing tape over the holes on the painted metal pillars where water was entering. There is a plastic "male" fitting that pokes into the metal pillar from the trim, mine was broken off. Once I sealed and replaced the tabs, voila, the problem was immediately solved. I write this because other posts indicated that the pillars would not let in a lot of water. Just made carpet wet. My carpet was SOAKED, and I literally had a lake or standing water in the car. Now 100% dry after replacing the trim snap in holding pieces and capping the other open holes in the pillar. Wanted to share because it worked great. Good luck!

Oh man that's trouble. Have you now gone through the wiring under the carpet and sill trim to make sure that wire connectors aren't corroded or going to corrode?

Good to know, I already installed the A pillar fix kit on mine preventatively, but I didn't know it could let in so much water.

That kit should include some tape patches to cover holes in the body. But you can read the PDF and just fill with caulk or such (probably hold up better anyway).
