What did you do to your LR3 today?
Trust me I get it. I just finished the first 400 miles of a 1400 mile journey that ends Monday. Tomorrow we start the red clay rally.
I still need to do a write up for Rovers at Wintergreen

From left to right 2006 Range Rover Sport HSE EAS 33's, 2006 LR3 V8 Coil Conversion 33's and 2011 LR4 HSE EAS 35's.
The Sport and the LR4 are also rocking HD CV's. Those things are beasts. Mine looks like the weak kid that got picked last next to them

well, decided to join the rebadged crowd.
took all the rear badges off, cleaned off all the old gunk, and put a Discovery 3 in its place. Also put the 'SE' back on the right side minus the V8

Finally got a spare Key cut. Picked up an uncut, and unprogrammed, key from Amazon for $21 -
. Found a local locksmith to cut the key. Cost - $40. Before driving away, I checked to make sure that it manually unlocks and locks the doors fine, and slides in and out of the ignition ok, and is able to turn to positions 1 and 2 ok. All good. Next step - I will be using my bluetooth Gap IIDTool to program the newly cut key to the vehicle. Going to read the Gap manual, and watch a few youtube videos, and also search here, for advice from those who have already successfully done this. I am assuming the new key does not have a rechargeable battery, so I will assume that it will die at some point, at which time I may take it apart to retrieve the actual key blade and swap into a new fob, although it is difficult, fiddly, and error prone to get inside these fobs easily, without making a complete mess of it. I have put an indicating sticker on my original 'master' key, so that I know which one definitely includes the rechargeable battery.
Reporting back - "Great Success" (in my best Borat accent). No issues. Along with the Gap User Manual, I referred to this YouTube video -
. It's a strange feeling to have a spare key. Never had one of those before, for my LR3. Will need to find someone 'new' to worry about...
Added audio controls to the steering wheel and programmed the buttons for volume, track skip, navigation start phone answer/hang up and home. Had to cut the shroud for the the phone buttons which i did as neat as possible, panel is a slightly darker shade of grey so instead of matching either colour i will paint both sides with some left over paint from painting by ARB bar which is coincidentally very close to the silver of my dash.
