What did you do to your LR3 today?
Fixed a rattle in my drivers side mirror. Removed the door panel (thanks to a video from Atlantic British about replacing the stock mirrors with extended trailer mirrors) and then the mirror. Disassembled the mirror by drilling the tops off the heat sealed studs and taking out all the guts. There was a piece of the aluminum stop that had been damaged and broken off and floating around inside the assembly. I replaced all the parts by securing them with flat head screws into the holes in the studs and replaced the mirror and the door panel. No more rattle. It was very annoying on trails to hear that sound.
Also replaced one of the inoperative and broken front LED fog light bulbs inside the ARB front bumper assembly with a standard 12V driving light bulb. Fun morning.

Locked my doors, which I apparently forgot to do earlier this week. Someone came through and took a bunch of stuff including my IIDTool (so useful to a street tweaker). I had been just leaving it in the tray ahead of the cupholders. Before that I was keeping it in the center console, but that got cleaned out too. For the replacement IIDTool I'm going to find a more hidden spot to keep it... it really needs to be stored in the truck and it's by far the single most valuable thing kept in there. Might see if I can velcro it under the seat so it's still accessible.
And yes, I've also wondered if GAP might be amenable to replacement hardware at a reduced cost. Surely a large portion of their asking price is to recoup software development costs, as bluetooth OBD reader hardware is cheap. I immediately emailed them to request this unit be marked stolen in their system. When they respond (or if they don't) I will also ask about replacement. Otherwise Island4x4 seems to still have the best deal on a new one.
Update: GAP's customer service is on point as usual. They marked my old tool stolen so it can no longer be used, and offered a decent discount on a replacement.

Going to bee difficult for the thief to market a thing that can't be used but it probably won't be known till someone tries to use it. might be interesting to hear that the person can be tracked if they contact GAP customer service to activate it. They will probably just throw it away which is a waste for everyone.
...I had some prowlers swipe the ashtray from my 1997 Montero. I didn't give a **** about the $3 in coins, but the tray was worth $20. The first time I found it where they'd tossed it in a neighbor's yard. The second time I was able to get it cheap from a wrecker. Both times I felt violated.
All this talk of theft made me go to the car and give it a once over. I discovered that the right front door has not been locking and my wife was not happy about the horn going off as I HAD to to test it a few times to make sure (looks like a new actuator is in my future). I hope I can find one that is not a "genuine Land Rover "part and require a cosigner and collateral from the bank before shipping it. .
Also decided to put the GAP IID in the tool box at night.
Thanks for making me give the rover a once over this weekend. Now I get to order new parts and install them.
